Frequently asked questions

How soon after birth should my baby receive osteopathic treatment?

A lot of the tension in your babies body may not be evident to the caregiver for quite a few weeks after birth. Considering the rapid growth of the cranial bones in the first 7 weeks we believe that treatment soon after birth helps to support their growing bodies. The sooner you can see an osteopath after birth, the better.

Is osteopathic treatment safe to have during pregnancy?

Yes. Techniques used are chosen very carefully to suit individual needs. The comfort of the mother and safety of the baby is always considered.

Are there any side effects my baby will experience after osteopathic treatment?

Very rarely a baby might be grizzly after treatment but this shouldn’t last more than 24-48 hours. Typically babies will have a good sleep straight after treatment.

Can osteopathic treatment help postnatally?

Definitely. Many mothers need their pelvis and lower back re-aligned after the birth of their baby. Also, postural strains that develop with feeding and carrying their new babies may benefit from osteopathic treatment.

Is my treatment claimable on my private health insurance?

Yes absolutely. If your Private Health Insurance covers osteopathic treatment then we can claim it for you on our HICAPS machine on the day of consultation.

Do I need a referral to see an osteopath?
